Updated EPD strengthens environmental transparency of Teknicross® railway crossing systems

Teknikum’s Teknicross® railway crossing system has received an updated Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), providing independently verified environmental data and supporting customers’ increasing need for transparency in infrastructure projects.

Verified environmental data supports decision-making

The updated EPD is another key milestone for Teknikum and especially for Teknicross ®. It provides independently verified data on our product’s environmental impact and reinforces our commitment to transparency and continuous improvement. Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) provide independently verified and standardized environmental information about products. As sustainability requirements continue to grow in infrastructure projects, EPDs help customers compare solutions and support more informed procurement and lifecycle assessment decisions.

“For us, it’s not just documentation, it strengthens our position in railway infrastructure projects where verified environmental data and lifecycle transparency are becoming increasingly important”, highlights Esko Mäntyharju QEHS Director.

For customers, the EPD provides standardized and comparable environmental information that supports procurement decisions, simplifies compliance processes, and enables more accurate life cycle and carbon footprint assessments.

Sustainability requirements are becoming standard practice

Environmental performance has become an increasingly important part of railway infrastructure projects. Sustainability is no longer considered an additional benefit but a core requirement in many projects.

Looking ahead, Teknikum expects environmental transparency, lifecycle performance assessments, and verified sustainability data to become standard requirements across the railway industry.
